Do you have the feeling that something is just not right with your car, especially with the way it is running? You should get your vehicle checked our for drivabilty problems. Drivability is anything having do with how your vehicle is performing while on the road. From the fuel system to affected components and other systems like the powertrain, ignition, distributor, exhaust system, brakes, tires, suspension etc. With the proper diagnostics, the problems can be solved before they become a major issue.
One of the main areas this type off testing looks at is the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). It is the engines control system, the on-board computer in the vehicle that acts as the brain of the engine. A PCM or circuit system failure can be the cause of many problems in your car.
Intermittent stalling of your engine, can include a worsening Idle Speed Control (ISC) System, ignition loss, low fuel pressure, EGR or vacuum leaks etc. The Idle speed of every engine is manipulated through the amount of air that is permitted to bypass throttles using the idle bypass circuit which is located within the throttle body. The PCM then monitors the idle speed, and it utilizes a solenoid, a small electric motor to position a valve that manipulates the airflow through air bypass circuits. If a sensor in this system fails, it could be the cause of your problems. A diagnostic check could find the issue and repairs can be made.
Many complaints directed to drivability problems can be more serious. In these situations, they are best to be looked at by diagnosing the problem with the latest test computers and diagnostic equipment. Modern vehicles have their own special diagnostic requirements. Our Skilled technicians are updated with the current procedures, techniques and new technologies are the most qualified to conduct such diagnostics.
A properly functioning Powertrain Control Module will prevent such problems and ensure you will spend more time on the road.
